01. What are Player Profiles? (May 11, 2005 - 12:48am)
When we started working on Alien Assault Traders we thought it would be a great idea to do something that would help build a Community of people who liked to get together and play AATrade. So we decided to create a system for the game that would allow a player to keep track of all the games they are playing and the final outcome of any game they finished.

The Profile System was born!

When you create your player profile you can join any version 0.20 or higher server and register your player on that game with the Master Profile Server. When you log out of any registered game your player information is sent to the MPS and added to your Current Game List. When anyone views your profile it will show all of the games you are currently playing and your standing in those games.

When a game is reset your final game information is sent to the MPS and will be added to your Completed Game History. This history never changes or goes away. It is a permanent record of all the games you have played. If you are playing on a server that is listed as a Non-Standard Server in the server lists then the final game results will not be stored in your Permanent Game History.

You do not have to use the same name in a game as you use for your profile account game. When others view your current and past game histories it will display the alias name you used in that game.

The profile system is a great way to keep track of your standings and show off to others. :D

02. How do I get a Player Profile? (May 11, 2005 - 12:49am)
This is an easy one. :)

Just click on the Create a New Profile link on the main page. Fill out all of the required information IE: Player Name, email address, age, ect. Once you have the information filled out just submit it and your profile account will be created. It doesn't cost you a thing as it is totally FREE! Can't beat that. :D

03. How do I register a game with my Profile? (May 11, 2005 - 12:52am)
When you created your profile you were asked for TWO different passwords. The first password is your profile password. This is the password you use to log into your profile account on the http://www.aatraders.com web site.

The second password is called the Server password. This is the password you use to register a game you have joined with our profile system. The reason we use two passwords is for security reasons. This prevents the remote possability that a bad Game Admin may try to steal players profile passwords to gain access to their profile accounts.

SO MAKE SURE YOU USE TWO DIFFERENT PASSWORDS!

The passwords are specially encoded as well to prevent anyone from stealing them.

When you join a game for the first time you will be taken to the Options Screen. At the bottom of the screen you will find a link called Register Profile. Click this link and you will be asked for your profile name and profile server password. Enter the information and click the submit button. This information is sent to our profile server and validated. If it checks out specially encoded information is sent back to the game you are on and entered into your player account. The game will now send update information to the master profile server everytime you log out or when the game resets.

In the upcoming 0.30 version of Alien Assault Traders you will be able to enter your profile information at the same time you enter your email address, ship and player name when creating a new player. The game will automatically register you when it creates the player in the game.

04. How do I get my own Blog? (May 11, 2005 - 12:53am)
It's simple and easy.

You get your own blog as soon as you create a player profile. It doesn't cost you anything and you can post just about anything there you want. The blogging system has many features. There are a number of templates you can chose from and we hope to add more in the future.

There are many highlighting features you can use when creating a new blog entry. If you are familier with the BBCode used by many forums then you will not have any problems enhacing your blog entries.

05. What are the Rules of Conduct? (May 11, 2005 - 12:55am)
This is a friendly reminder for everyone.

We offer blogs for everyone who creates a player profile as a free service and we really don't have many limits as to what can be posted in your personal blogs. Here are the things that can get your blogging privileges revoked.

Sexually Explicit Stories
Racial, Ethnic, ect. hate messages.
Threats of violence to other people of any type.

You would really have to be trying to get your Blogging privileges removed.

We are more strict on player comments because those cannot be edited or deleted by the poster or the recipient. All of the above rules apply to comments with this addition of the following...

No foul language in a player comment.

We have had to suspend one players comment privileges after they ignored repeated requests not to do it.

If our site was to have a rating it would probably have the following rating.

Quote:

TEEN
Titles rated T - Teen have content that may be suitable for persons ages 13 and older. May contain violent content, mild or strong language, and/or suggestive themes.

06. Can I have multiple Profiles? (May 11, 2005 - 12:56am)
NO! NO! NO!

This is one rule we will not let anyone bypass. All players can have only ONE profile. This is to prevent smurfing. Smurfing is when a well known player creates another account so they can play without being recognized.

If we catch anyone using more than one profile we will usually ban then from the profile system and turn off their multiple accounts so they cannot be used or seen.

07. What are Donations? (May 11, 2005 - 12:57am)
Donations are a way to say thank you for all the hard work on the game. :) It takes alot of money to keep the servers up and paying for the bandwidth the games and main site use. If you enjoy the game and the services we offer then anything would be greatly appreciated to help defray some of the costs.

08. What is the Hall of Fame? (May 11, 2005 - 12:57am)
In the future we will be running special Tournaments. The top player from any of these tournaments will have their final game information listed on this page. We are still working out some of the details for this and it may be coupled with a new Gaming Ladder.

09. Why are there Patches? (May 11, 2005 - 12:58am)
From time to time we may find a bug or an exploit in the game that requires a minor change in the game code. Instead of creating an entirely new release with the changes we release a patch of the game. The patch will contain only the updated program files along with instructions on how to install the patch.

In most cases a patch can be installed without having to reset a currently running game. We strive to make sure a patch never requires a game reset.

18. What are PMs or Private Messages? (May 11, 2005 - 1:03am)
Private Messages are private communications between profile members. These messages can only be sent or received by players who have created a Profile Account.

When you receive new Private Messages an Alert Box will appear on screen if you have Java Script enabled in your browser. You will also see a Read PM's link on the sidebar with a number representing how many private messages you have waiting.

Creating and replying to a private message works alot like the way private messages are handled in the forums. You can quote text from a message sent to you and add all kinds of text enhancements.

Remember the only people who will see your private message is the person you sent the message.
